Montenegro Favourites

For such a small country Montenegro hosts a surprising variety of natural beauty. It is difficult not to be amazed in front of constant and stunning changes in the landscapes. Landscape is anything but dull. Lakes and mountains, mountain passes, canyons and bridges. No wonder it is know as the hidden pearl of the Mediterranean. Driving through the mountains can feel like you have entered The Lord of the Rings .. My favourite pics form Montenegro over the last few years .. Auroras

Seeing the Aurora Borealis / Northern Lights is something we should all do at least once in a life time. Chasing the aurora in Iceland has been an amazing (somewhat cold) adventure over the last few years. Book those flights & go chasing the lights. They are definitely one of the most beautiful and captivating events I have had privilege to witness. Gallery of my favourite Aurora pics ...

Connemara Light – Trip Report

I spent the long weekend in the company of some lovely people teaching them landscape photography and soaking up some amazing scenery and light on Ireland's west coat. To be a bit more specific Connemara. The workshop was a great success and we we're really treated to some amazing light. If you want to join us for more of same later this month click here. For now here's a few images from the weekend..Hope you enjoy..

Mist & Atmosphere

Mist & Fog might not be everyones favourite, but for a photographer they create a wonderfully moody & atmospheric feel to the subject. They transform everyday scenes & landscapes into something unique, often mystical, sometimes remarkable. Let’s not forget spooky. So, wake up early on a misty / foggy morning and explore natures beauty through a different lens.

I Love Trees

I just love shooting trees in my landscape photography.

Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter. You always get a different feel to the forest.

Throughout my career I have visited many amazing places & trees have always had a special place in my photography. I guess my love affair started in Wicklow and the publication of my first book Wild Garden.

Trees are magical and mysterious. Sometimes lonely, sometimes dramatic, sometimes haunting. Always beautiful. They tell stories. They hold histories.

Welcome to ExploreLight's world of trees.

I love shooting tree's in winter. you can see the full shape and design. Captured in the Wicklow mountains.. Tree's tree's wonderful tree's. Keep it simple in the Sally Gap..

Let It Snow

As I woke up today to a beautiful bright, sunny & cold day, to frosty and icy conditions I started thinking about Snow. We don't get enough snow in Ireland but its the perfect blanket for landscape photography. Maybe this weekend the weather gods will be good to us. I have been very lucky throughout my photographic career to witness some extreme winter conditions. I have visited various locations around the world and managed to take interesting images of many winter wonderlands. At times it was tour de force. At times it was freezing cold. Mostly it was a thrilling experience. From technical standpoint it can sometimes be challenging. Freezing conditions and tricky exposures. But its always worthwhile. Here is a selection of my favourite Winter / Snow images from around the world. Stephen and Deanna – Burning Man 2014

I love Burning Man. I love the atmosphere, the art, the insane weather but mostly I love the people. I had the honour to shoot Stephen and Deanna's handfasting ceremony on my last visit in 2014. We know each other through Burning Man connections from our sweet green isle. Great people, great atmosphere .. and wedding photography with a really nice twist. You can't beat a fire spitting dragon to set the tone. Hope you enjoy and special thanks to these kind folks.. 001 002 003 004 005 006 007 008 009 010 011 012 013 014 015 016 017 018 019 020 021 022 023 024 025 026 027 028 029 030 031 032 033
