The West of Ireland boasts the countries most rugged and wild landscapes. Beautiful mountains, lakes, rivers and an untamed coastline hugged by the Atlantic Ocean dominate the area. Ed and Peter are Ireland's premium landscape photographers and will bring you to the best locations that the country has to offer. Peter has recently recieved great acclaim for his book of Irish landscapes Wild Garden. Our 10 day tour is designed to let you enjoy your photography while we look after the locations and any instruction that might be needed. We will combine sunrise (3 sunrises, sunset every day) and sunset shoots through our journey ensuring you shoot the best locations in the best light. Our goal is for you to have a great time, get a genuine flavour for the Irish landscape and culture, and come away with a body of stunning images.
So Where Will We Go?
Our tour leaves from Shannon Airport though we can make alternative arrangements for individuals if required. We don't want to spend excessive time in the car but we also want to cover some ground and get you to a range of key locations. As such we have broken the tour into three areas each only 2 to 4 hours apart.
Our first 3 nights will be spent on the Dingle Peninsula where we will enjoy stunning locations around Slea Head, Connor Pass and Mt Brandon (second tallest peak in Ireland). Weather permitting we will also have a day trip to the Blasket Islands off the Dingle coast where we will find stunning beaches, a rugged landscape and long since abandoned villages. We will be staying in Dingle town which is an ideal location for us to explore beyond.
We will then move from Dingle to County Clare taking a ferry across the Shannon estuary. Spending a further two nights in this region we will capture the iconic Cliffs of Moher, the dramatic limestone of the Burren, Doolin, Loop Head and the many wild and beautiful beaches along this wonderful stretch of coastline.
Our final destination is Connemara and South Mayo. Connemara epitomises Ireland's Atlantic border. Thousands of lakes make up its southern portion set against the beautiful mountain range known as the 12 Bens in its centre. We will be photographing these stunning lakes along the 'Bog Road' as well as Derryclare Lough. Connemara is also famed for its stunning beaches along the Sky road and in its north west tip around Tully Cross. Weather permitting we will also have a day trip to the Aran islands famous for their geological formation, historical monuments and their linguistic and cultural heritage. The Irish(Gaelic) language is still spoken here and in the twenty first century all native born islanders are bilingual in both Irish and English. We will also pay a visit to the historical site, Kylemore Abbey. South Mayo also boasts a range of dramatic landscapes embodied by the imposing figure of Mweelrea mountain, flanked by the always beautiful Doo Lough. Its a dramatic finish to our tour..
